Edinburgh Zoo Wedding Photographer | Joanna & Benjamin

When Joanna and Benjamin got in touch about their wedding at Edinburgh Zoo, I thought “fuck yes”.

Benjamin is from Sweden, and the inspiration of their day was Swedish Midsummer at the zoo. They wanted to embrace Swedish midsummer vibes with wild flowers, flower crowns, drinking Schnapps, and wanted a day that felt relaxed and chill. This is exactly what they got.

Maureen Kettle from Humanist Society Scotland conducted their beautiful ceremony which involved an exchange of rings, which were made by Benjamin’s mother, and rings warmed by all guests, hand fasting, and drinking Swedish Schnapps from their quaich.

After their ceremony, we took some group photos and then hopped in a wee car provided by the zoo, to take us up to the dinosaurs and giraffes for some wedding photos inside Edinburgh Zoo. The dinos and giraffes were incredible and gave us a great backdrop for photos.

We also managed some couple’s photos after dinner at a music and food festival which was going on in the zoo. Joanna and Benjamin managed to blag some cocktails from Glenmorangie, and enjoy the music. I always say that you can do whatever you want and get whatever you want if you’re in a white dress. Case and point here!

Joanna & Benjamin rounded off their wedding with a fantastic ceilidh provided by The Jiggers Ceilidh Band. They were fantastic as always, and had a full dancefloor all night.
